City, county taking time off for 4th

The Hays County Commissioners Court will not hold its usual Tuesday morning meeting this week.

The San Marcos City Council is also taking a hiatus — not just for a week, but for the whole month of July. CIty spokesman Trey Hatt said the city manager had made the suggestion to take a month off to allow city council and staff to spend time with their families during summer. Mayor John Thomaides endorsed the idea.

“The Charter requires that we have 22 regular meetings a year,” Hatt said, “giving the council latitude to take this break as long as the required number of meetings are held during the year.”

Council will resume its regular meetings on Aug. 7.

City and county offices will be closed on July 4.
