Downtown co-marketing fund grants available

Tour San Marcos and the Main Street Program are making a new effort to introduce business owners to the downtown co-marketing fund, a program to help downtown businesses promote themselves and bring new visitors from outside of the area to the town’s center.

The fund provides matching advertising grants up to $15,000, or 50 percent of total marketing efforts, to qualifying businesses.

Applicants are encouraged to attend marketing workshops hosted by Main Street. The next one will be March 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  at Splash Co-working,  326 N. LBJ Drive. Applications will be accepted through September 2018.

Since being funded by the San Marcos City Council in 2013, the grant has been used by many businesses to help promote downtown as a destination for connecting, creating and celebrating.

With the relaunch comes changes to the application and approval process.

“In hopes to have more businesses take advantage of this awesome opportunity, we have worked to make the process more streamlined and easier to understand,” said Samantha Armbruster, the Main Street program manager.

This program is available for individual business marketing or collaborations with other downtown businesses and organizations. The grant funds are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
