Fresh perspectives from KZSM

As a radio station, part of our responsibility is to present news and information in an honest, fair, and balanced manner. Sometimes, our radio hosts present a position that needs to be considered but is often ignored due to the likelihood of being controversial. Two new programs on our schedule fall into this category and provide us with a fresh perspective on issues that really matter.

“Equality – the time is now” is hosted by Virginia Hale on Saturdays from 4 -5 p.m. A program on feminism, her view is equality for all, not angry women and emasculated men as many people tend to perceive the issue. Her approach is equality, understanding, and acceptance of each other, regardless off gender, with the goal of creating harmonious relationships.

“Counter-Culture Conservative” is hosted by Garrett Glass every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. He describes his program as centering around the new counter-culture of today which has reached the point of becoming the exact opposite of the counter-culture of the 60s and 70s. Traditionalism, conservatism, and nationalism with a special emphasis on media, government, institutions, and other cultural indicators will be among the typical topics of discussion.

Another recent addition to our lineup is “Live from the Farmer’s Market” which is hosted by one of our many talented DJs. One never knows who is going to show up! Tune in on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. for interviews with many of our Farmer’s Market vendors and guests. is always looking for volunteers to entertain, enlighten, educate, and inform the community of San Marcos and communities around the world. We currently have openings for radio show hosts and DJs. Programs that are educational and informative as well as music shows that play local artists, country, rock, Spanish/ Latino, indie, easy listening, and more are in great demand. We also need volunteers to help behind the scenes. For more information on how to become part of the family email us at or come visit us at the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, join us in the Kissing Alley every third Thursday or at any function where we may be.

There is much in store in the way of special programming as we head into the holiday season. In January, we will also celebrate our one-year anniversary of broadcasting. Keep listening, as the best is yet to come!
