The summer’s heat and lack of rainfall has upped the price of hay in Hays and surrounding counties. A year ago, farmers were paying $45 per round barrel; this year it has jumped to $55 locally and as high as $125 in the Hill Country. A full load of 10 round bales were on this truck headed west on Ranch Road 12. Daily Record photo by Gerald Castillo
