KZSM – and the beat goes on

Sunday, July 28, 2019

We are excited to announce that in the very near future, we will be presented with new promotional spots from your favorite KZSM radio hosts. Plans were recently announced for a “Promo Contest” for the present volunteer radio staff. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, technical proficiency and will be aired once the contest closes and winners are announced. A panel of judges has yet to be announced and we would consider volunteer applicants who are not already directly associated with KZSM. We expect to be entertained and informed as some entrants may also include Public Service Announcements for some of the volunteer organizations in our community. Winners will be announced at the next volunteer staff meeting and prizes, compliments of our neighbors/local business owners, will be awarded.

If you would like to attend the next volunteer staff meeting and share in the excitement when we announce the winners of our contest, or would like to just hang out with a diverse collection of radio personalities, please join us at Wake the Dead Coffee House on Wednesday, Aug.

28. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Bring your ideas and suggestions on how we may better serve our community, or let’s discuss your idea for doing your own radio show.

The music returns to the Kissing Alley in August. Bring the family and tell your friends! Ace Pepper and the Homebodies will kick it off for us from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m on Aug. 15. The KZSM Kissing Alley concert series is always family-friendly, free, and open to the public. Then, come and join us for Karaoke After Hours in the Kissing Alley. Bring your best singing voice. We can’t promise that you’ll be noticed by a talent scout, but this promises to be loads of fun anyway.

As a reminder, YOUR true community radio station provides our community with opportunities to get involved and doing something a little bit different. Volunteering does not mean that one must be in front of a microphone. There are many skills required to run any organization and your true community radio station is no different. As our involvement within the community continues to grow, so will the need to have a volunteer staff to help keep up. Come and be a member of our volunteer radio family.

KZSM (Just a little bit south of weird) now streaming world-wide on the internet at KZSM.org.
