KZSM – Community radio keeping you informed

Sunday, September 9, 2018

In the current political climate, being informed about issues, legislative agendas, and political party platforms can be overwhelming. Fortunately, there are radio hosts on your true community radio station that strive to keep you informed about the local political scene. This is being done by hosting political candidates and affording them opportunities to present themselves and their agendas for the upcoming county elections.

We the People on Friday evenings has always been a good source of information on how to get involved in local politics. Rob Roark interviews candidates and officers of various civic organizations and keeps his listeners “in the know.” As we approach the upcoming November mid-term elections, he anticipates giving candidates of all parties an opportunity to be a guest on his program.

The Ellen B. Show which airs on Thursday evenings, has also interviewed individuals running for political office. With her disarming manner and Brooklyn accent, she manages to get a more personal perspective and often illuminates the motivation that drives folks who run for public office. Her interviews are recorded away from the studio which creates a relaxed atmosphere for her guests.

Mark and Chris of Mixed Bag on Wednesday mornings have returned after a brief hiatus. Folks will remember them from their last show which sometimes consisted of controversial commentary on local news and pointed interviews. Not having lost their edge, they interview not only members of the local political scene but persons with interesting stories to tell, mixing it up with musical selections.

To remain as neutral as possible, your community radio station offers equal time to all candidates running for political office. Though each staff member maintains their own political beliefs, as a station we do not endorse any candidate, political party or political platform.

Don’t forget to join us in the Kissing Alley on the 20th for our Back to School Blow-out with Marcus and the Boho Groove, Sloe Your Roll, and Time of Night. The 78666 Triple Threat is also coming up on the 21st, 22nd, and the 23rd of this month at the Buzzmill. Come bang your head and jump in the mosh pit with us!

If you’d like to join your true community radio family, come to Wake the Dead Coffee House for our monthly volunteer staff meeting. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Bring your ideas and suggestions on how we can serve you better!
