KZSM — Your grateful community radio

Sunday, February 17, 2019

With Valentine’s Day just past, the expressions of love, warmth, and passion have been evidenced at every turn. Whether through social media, commercial adaptations, or even direct verbal communications with one’s special someone, this is definitely the season for expressing feelings of appreciation for one another.

Your true community radio station is not any different. We would like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude for all our listeners and for our community who have been supportive and continue to support us. We also appreciate having been given the opportunity to serve you.

As many of you know, recently we were vandalized and we have been struggling to raise money to repair the damage that was incurred. We are happy and very thankful to report that due to the kindness and generosity of Sabre Commercial and Ames Glass and Mirror, who are reconstructing the old bank building across the street, our window will be repaired at no cost to us! What a Valentine’s gift!

As a nonprofit organization we have also been working toward self-sufficiency and expansion of what we have to offer. Often, grant submission requests are required to have letters of support from members of the community. This requirement was met within 24 hours of our asking everyone whom we approached. It is because of this emphatic support that we are both humbled and grateful. Despite the self-confidence and intrepid nature of our radio hosts, it is reassuring to know that what we are doing is well -received and wholeheartedly supported by many prominent members of our community.

We welcome anyone who would care to join your true community radio family! Training of our new prospective radio hosts continues, and more classes are being scheduled for the future. In the meantime, please join us at Wake the Dead Coffee House for our next volunteer staff meeting. Attending our meeting does not obligate anyone to become a radio host. There are many other positions where volunteers are needed and appreciated. Be aware however, that our meetings will now be held on the fourth Wednesday (the 27th of this month instead of the third Wednesday) but will still begin at 7:30 p.m.

Join us in the Kissing Alley on the 21st for the San Marcos High School Jazz and Salsa bands. Girl Scout cookies will be on sale and Portraits by Trish will be available to photograph you. See you downtown!
