KZSM is now accepting applications
Have you ever considered working in a radio station? Neither did most of our current radio hosts! Most of us grew up listening to the radio but few ever considered sharing their talents with the world. However, there is more to do in a radio station other than host a program. A lot of effort and energy goes into keeping a diverse program schedule on the air. Being an all-volunteer organization, our DJs and staff members donate their time, talent and energy in addition to maintaining family lives, jobs and other obligations. Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day to complete and accomplish everything that needs to get done. This is where YOU can help.
A truly successful organization depends on an efficient support staff! Aside from technical support that involves computer and program maintenance, which is always welcome, administrative and management skills are needed as well. Two positions we are looking to fill are a Volunteer Coordinator and a Program Manager. Very briefly, a Volunteer Coordinator would be required to enlist and coordinate assistance from members of the community who are willing to volunteer their time to support activities such as our Kissing Alley concerts and other functions that we host. An individual with experience in event planning would be ideal but is not essential for this position.
A Program Manager would ideally have some radio experience and have management experience. This person would be responsible for assisting the station manager in scheduling, training, and evaluating the performance of on-air personnel. Keep in mind that these are volunteer non-paid positions, training will be provided, and time commitment is flexible.
It is also time for election of new SMTXCRA Board members and officers. Suggestions and applications are now being considered.
