KZSM radio — And away we go!

Sunday, November 25, 2018

So, Thanksgiving is now behind us and ahead lies weeks of shopping, parties, music and celebrations of all kinds. Before we can catch our breath, the New Year will be here, and folks will be making resolutions with good intentions, most of which will never come to fruition.

Your true community radio family is no different. Many of us are already looking forward to planning holiday specials to engage our listeners. From pop music to rock to heavy metal to music in foreign languages, it’s fair to say that almost everyone will find something to help celebrate the season. As for celebrations, in January we will celebrate the second anniversary of our first on-air broadcast. Nearly two years ago, on Jan. 2, we went live to broadcast our first actual on-air program. Since then, except for occasional issues with equipment or power failures, we have maintained programming continuously 24 hours a day.

If we were to make any resolutions, with the intent of keeping them, this is what they would be: We resolve to continue serving our community by keeping you, our listeners, informed and up-to-date on the things that matter to you the most with interviews, announcements, and on-air discussions. We resolve to entertain you with a variety of music that one wouldn’t expect to hear anywhere else other than on a community radio station. We resolve to continue to participate in community events with our presence and support. Finally, we resolve to continue to listen to your ideas and suggestions on how to improve what we do and on how we may serve you better.

Until then, however, there is still the matter of getting through the rest of this month and the next one. For December’s Kissing Alley, we are lining up gospel choirs to sing Christmas carols for us. Join us for this free, family-friendly concert series.

KZSM’s Metal Mark will be hosting another Triple Threat Heavy Metal Concert at Jack’s Roadhouse! The fun begins on Thursday, Dec. 13 and will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 15. Bring a new unwrapped toy to benefit the children of San Marcos.

Don’t forget to stop by our booth at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. Come and meet your radio hosts. Pick up a printed program schedule or fill out an application. Ever thought of becoming a radio DJ? We can make that happen!
