KZSM - Starting 2019 off with a bang

Sunday, January 6, 2019

Your true community radio is beginning the New Year with a celebration. This past Jan. 2 marked the two-year anniversary of the start of our continuous live-stream broadcast. With 17,525 hours of broadcast time behind us, we are eagerly anticipating adding more to that number! In celebration of this milestone, we are inviting the general public to join us at the Railyard on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 7:30 p.m. until closing. Come and meet the dedicated volunteers who have given so much of their time and energy to make community radio a reality. We are thankful to have gotten to where we are now, but we couldn’t have done it without the support of our friends and neighbors in our community.

As we begin a new year, we are also beginning with a course for training new radio hosts. The first class was held this past Thursday at the San Marcos Public Library. The response was more impressive than we expected. Seventeen candidates have begun the training, and all are very diverse in their interests and are highly motivated to produce their own programs. With new faces filled with fresh ideas and energy, the future is looking very bright with these new candidates and we are excited to see what the end results will be!

As for the rest of our staff, we continue our programming with only a few minor changes. If you haven’t seen our program schedule to see what we have to offer, go to our website. The schedule is posted there. There is a little something for everyone, and if it’s not there now, we’re working on getting it there for you.

In January we begin our Kissing Alley concert series with performances from Ella Reid and Richard Watson. The program will begin with a representative from Heat Boot Camp to give you some ideas on how to regain your pre-holiday physique. Bring a donation for the our four-legged friends as we will be collecting to benefit the local animal shelter. In February, we will be conducting nuptials in the Kissing Alley. Why spend a fortune on a wedding when you can get married in the Kissing Alley in a unique ceremony tailored to your specific desires at a fraction of the cost? Contact us for more details.

KZSM (Just a little bit south of weird!) now streaming world-wide on the internet on KZSM.org.
