KZSM: Your radio station gives thanks

Sunday, November 18, 2018

Now that Halloween is over and done with, the holiday season is now upon us. With Thanksgiving around the corner, many folks will begin to pause and consider the many things there are to be thankful for. This also holds true for your true community radio family. As we approach the second anniversary of continuous livestream broadcasting, we have many reasons for giving thanks.

First, and foremost, we are thankful for our listeners who have been, and continue to be, supportive of community radio. You are the reason we are still here. You are the reason we do what we do. Without an audience to listen to the diverse programming which we continue to produce, what would be the point in dedicating ourselves to entertain, engage, and enlighten?

We are all thankful for the opportunity and the experience of putting ourselves “out there” and sharing the things we are most passionate about. Most of our radio hosts never would have imagined being in a broadcast booth, becoming technically proficient at using audio equipment, and employing skills that once may have seemed so foreign that little thought was given to such abilities. Being able to provide a service to a community that appreciates the effort and the result of what we do has given many of us a new sense of meaning. This is especially true as the connections we make with others help to build a strong, cohesive community.

As our radio hosts begin to plan and prepare special holiday programming, we continue to invite other members of our community to join us. However, not everyone is required to train to become a radio host or DJ. This is YOUR true community radio station. Let us know how we may help each other. Constructive comments and suggestions are always welcome and sometimes even critical comments help us to see how we might not always be serving the needs of you, our listeners and supporters.

Our annual meeting will be held on De. 5. With only a few exceptions, all our meetings are open to the public, so we invite and encourage you to attend. An election of new board officers will be held. Once the venue is determined, an announcement will be made.

In the Kissing Alley, our concerts continue year-round. Join us in December when we plan to have gospel choirs serenading us with the sounds of Christmas.

KZSM (Just a little bit south of weird!) now streaming world-wide on the internet on KZSM.org.
