Looking to the future with KZSM
Eighteen months have passed since we began live streaming our first radio program. Since then, our program schedule has continued to evolve and improve. Some of our original programs have been discontinued and many others have taken their places. However, besides our diverse broadcast schedule, we also continue to showcase local and regional musical talent through our Kissing Alley Concert series, and through programs such as Revolving Door, Metal Mark Live, Friday Night with Care, Celtic Corner and many others. What we provide is financed through donations from our supporters and by the donation of time and effort by the many musicians who have shared their talents with us.
Most of our fundraising efforts are through concerts, like the recent Heavy Metal Meltdown that was hosted by the Buzzmill. We schedule these events so that we have time to develop and promote them. In September, the Buzzmill has allowed us to have another heavy metal extravaganza. From the 21st through the 23rd, we will present 18 heavy metal bands for the “San Marcos 2018 Triple Threat 78666 Metalfest!” But wait! There’s more…
On Saturday Oct. 20th, Wake the Dead Coffee House will host our Annual Fall Fundraiser! If you missed it last year, then you will have another opportunity to join us this year. That program is still being developed but all indications are that it will be even better than the last one!
In the Kissing Alley, which is a monthly event and is a part of the Third Thursday Walkabouts sponsored by the San Marcos Downtown Association, we will be entertained by Conwaythewhale and Winter Fires on Aug. 16.
A schedule of bands to play in the following months will be posted as soon as musical guests have been confirmed.
If you or anyone you know is considering something different for nuptials, members of our KZSM staff will be performing marriage ceremonies in the Kissing Alley in the month of February. This will also be a fundraiser and all fees collected will go directly to KZSM.
Deadlines for applying will be posted and there will be guidelines to follow. We are considering several ideas to make the occasion memorable.
