Lumbreras taps ‘rock star’ to be chief of staff

City Manager Bert Lumbreras has chosen Stephanie Reyes to fill the position of Chief of Staff.

 Reyes has worked at the city of San Marcos since June 2001 and has served as assistant director of Human Resources for the past five years.  Prior to this, she served as interim Economic Development director and assistant to the City Manager. 

 “Stephanie brings a wealth of knowledge about the organization and the San Marcos community, and will be a strong asset as we work to advance council priorities and establish core values for the city,” Lumbreras said.  “It’s been a joy to see her grow her career over the years and I consider her one of our rock stars.”

 Reyes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration from Southwest Texas State University.  She is a member of the Texas City Management Association, International City/County Management Association and has served as a board member or officer for the Hays County Dispute Resolution Center, Community Action and Leadership San Marcos Alumni Association. Currently, she serves as Treasurer for the Crockett Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.
