Pair accused of vehicle theft, more

A 22-year-old San Marcos woman and a 24-year-old San Antonio man are facing a long list of charges in the wake of their arrest for vehicular burglary Friday.

Chief of Police Chase Stapp said a resident at the Park Hill Apartment on Leah Drive called 911 after interrupting the pair breaking into his car. Both suspects fled on foot, Stapp said, but “officers were able to get on scene quickly and stop the vehicle leaving the complex.”

He said the silver Lexus containing Angel Nathan Gonzales and Angelica Diaz turned out to be stolen from San Antonio, and it contained drugs, property believed to have been stolen in a number of other burglaries, and two handguns, one of them stolen as well.

Stapp said detectives are still trying to determine where all the burglaries had occurred. “There were various location, not just in San Marcos.”

He called the prompt arrival of officers at the scene “good police work.”

Gonzales was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, possession of a controlled substance, theft, theft of firearm, tampering with evidence, fraudulent use/possession of identifying information, three counts of burglary of a vehicle, unlawfully carrying a weapon, possession of marijuana, criminal trespass and failure to identify fugitive. He is being held under bonds totaling $64,000. Diaz was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, fraudulent use/ possession of identifying information, theft, theft of a firearm, unauthorized use of vehicle, three counts burglary of vehicle, possession of marijuana and criminal trespass. Her bonds total $53,000.
