PEC taking applications for scholarships

Sunday, February 3, 2019

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) proudly supports education in Central Texas through its youth programs. Last year, PEC awarded $100,000 in scholarships to regional students to attend the college, university, or trade school of their choice. This year, to celebrate 20 years of scholarships, PEC will award an additional $20,000, for a total of $120,000 for 2019.

“We are proud to support local students as they attend post-secondary institutions,” PEC Community Engagement Director Trista Fugate said. “And of course, it is our sincere hope that students consider settling back home in Central Texas after receiving their education to ensure our thriving, vibrant communities continue to prosper for many years to come.”

PEC’s scholarship program gave its first 10 awards for $500 each. Now, scholarships range from $2,500 to $10,000 and may be used to pay expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical school or trade school. Each scholarship recipient must be a 12th grade high school student through public, private or home-schooled education, and the scholarship recipient’s parent or legal guardian must be a PEC member in good standing.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, March 21, at 11:59 p.m. Visit PEC's website to apply.
