Regional airport to hold master plan open house

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

The San Marcos Regional Airport will introduce its new Airport Master Plan to the public during an open house on Monday from 2-5 p.m.

The new master plan is the first update since 2001 and includes considerations of current industry dynamics and examines long-term airport use, anticipated projects and necessary funding over the next 10 years. Work began on the plan in 2018.

After the plan’s completion it will need approval from the city council. From there it will go to the Texas Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for final approvals. The project is expected to cost $300,000 and the FAA will fund 90% of it.

Garver — the planning firm — will be at Monday’s open house, where it will be able to answer questions and record feedback. Maps and exhibits of the working plan will be displayed. The public is invited to the event at 4400 Highway 21, where they can provide comment on proposed runway, taxiway and development alternatives.
