SMCISD board delegates votes for appraisal districts

The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees voted for candidates to three appraisal districts during its regular meeting on Nov. 18. 

The board voted 6-0 to give all 215 votes to Alfredo Munoz for the Board of Directors of the Caldwell County Appraisal District. The trustees voted 6-0 to give all 53 votes to Dr. Greg Gilcrease for the Board of Directors of the Guadalupe County Appraisal District. 

The board voted to split its votes for the Hays Central Appraisal District between Joe Castillo and San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson. Castillo received 1,000 votes, while Hughson was given 188 votes. 

In other board action, the trustees voted 6-0 to adopt a resolution to identify hazardous conditions within two miles of a school campus. According to information provided by SMCISD, “The district may apply to the Commissioner of Education for an additional amount of up to 10 percent of its regular transportation allotment to be used for the transportation of students living within two miles of the school they attend who would be subject to hazardous traffic conditions if they walked to school.”

The board approved the comprehensive financial report, district and campus improvement plans and budget amendments. The trustees approved a resolution to enter into a contract with Student1.org for custom software development using Michael and Susan Dell Foundation Grant Funds. The board also approved an amended contract with Webber Commercial Construction, LLC for the SMCISD Miller Middle School Renovation and Addition Project. 

The board of trustees will next meet at a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 2 at 11:30 a.m. at the SMCISD Central Office Conference Room — 631 Mill Street.
