SMCISD board set for regular meeting

Sunday, September 20, 2020

The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees will consider a pay increase for all hourly workers during its September regular board meeting.

The trustees will consider increasing all hourly workers pay by $2 until the board discontinues the temporary raise. The agenda item comes after the board voted 4-2 against paying time and a half for paraprofessionals and auxiliary employees in a special-called meeting on Aug. 2, citing long-term budget concerns.

The trustees will also discuss and take possible action to participate in a joint election with Guadalupe County on Nov. 3. SMCISD Board of Trustees Single-Member District 1, which includes Guadalupe County, is up for election during the upcoming November election. The election, which was postponed from May until November because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be between incumbent Miguel Arredondo and challenger James Bryant, Jr. Arredondo will also appear on the ballot for City of San Marcos Mayor.

The board will also consider approval of a resolution regarding extracurricular status of 4-H organization, and approval of adjunct faculty, and approval of 2020-2021 Reading Academy Blended Facilitator — a part-time position.

The trustees will also discuss and take possible action the ranking of offerors that submitted proposals for the delinquent tax attorney and delegation of authority to the superintendent or his designee to negotiate a contract with the top-ranked offeror.

Additional items up for action: approval of student code of conduct updates; appointment of two San Marcos CISD representatives to the Core Four Task Force; and approval of budget amendments.

Monday’s meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at San Marcos High School — 2601 Rattler Road — inside the Criminal Justice Classroom. Meetings can also be viewed online at https://www.smcisd.net/Page/320.
