SMCISD Board of Trustees approve new directors

The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees approved the hire of three new directors during its Monday board meeting.

The board approved the hire of Richard Duvall, who will serve as the district’s director of energy management and sustainability; Amber Owens, who has been hired as the director of instruction and campus support; and Rose Pearson, who has been named the director of pupil personnel and student support services. Duvall has worked in the district for 14 years, previously serving as the principal at Miller Middle School since 2015.

“Although I will miss my work with our school family, I am excited about this new opportunity and I look forward to continuing to serve the San Marcos community in this new role,” Duvall said.

Owens has worked for SM-CISD for her entire career, which began in 2003. She spent the last five years work-ing as the principal of Hernandez Elementary School.

“As a proud product of the San Marcos CISD, it has been my honor to serve the students and their families in the role of Principal of Hernandez Elementary School,” Owens said. “I am excited and eager to serve all campuses, students, and families in this district and community.”

Pearson, who was previously the principal at Goodnight Middle School since 2016, will begin her 20th year with the district at the start of the 2020-21 school year.

“I feel very fortunate to have been a part of the Goodnight family and I will always cherish the time spent at the school,” Pearson said. “In my new role, I will provide support to our entire district and the community I love.”
