SMCISD Board of Trustees election on meeting agenda

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

San Marcos Consolidated ISD’s Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday for January’s regular meeting.

The board will discuss and take possible action to call an election to be held on May 2, 2020 for the purpose of electing three trustees. Miguel Arredondo, Margie Villalpando and Lupe Costilla all have their current terms as trustees coming to an end this year.

In executive session, the trustees will hold a discussion regarding the district’s central office. The board will reconvene in open session and take possible action on its executive session discussion.

The trustees last discussed SMCISD’s central office on July 15, 2019 when the board rescinded a previous vote to construct a central administration office at Mendez Elementary School.

In other business, the board will consider and possibly approve an early retirement/resignation incentive for professional, paraprofessional and auxiliary employees. The trustees will discuss and take possible action on a contract with Bartlett Cocke Commercial Construction, LLC for the SMCISD DeZavala Elementary School renovation and addition project.

The board will also discuss approval of stipends for the 2020-21 school year and budget amendments.

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. at San Marcos High School — 2601 Rattler Rd. — inside the criminal justice classroom.
