SMPD makes arrests after shots fired in Blanco Gardens

San Marcos police arrested three people after receiving multiple shots fired calls in the Blanco Gardens neighborhood.

The San Marcos Police Departments responded to Blanco Gardens near Barbara and Linda Drive at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police said in a social media post that responding officers were able to quickly narrow down where the gunshots originated, set up a perimeter and spoke with neighbors who identified two juvenile male suspects and a female suspect. Officials said they were also suspects in a separate stolen firearms case.

SMPD said officers recovered two stolen firearms from the scene, magazines and ammunition during their investigation.

Police arrested two juveniles. Officials identified the female as Liana Cortez Cuevas, 17, who was arrested and transported to the Hays County Law Enforcement Center. Cuevas was charged with tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair, engaging in organized criminal activity and two charges of theft of a firearm.

SMPD said no one was injured during the incident.
