'From the Top' visits Centro

Wednesday, June 12, 2019

Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos music program students got the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the nation's best classically-trained young musicians on Friday. “From the Top,” one of the most popular music programs on NPR, hosted a community engagement day at Centro, as a prelude to the Texas State International Piano Festival last weekend. Erin Fitzgerald, a 15-year-old pianist from Lake Travis High School in Austin and a "From the Top" featured musician, shows Centro students how to emulate the characteristics of water — flowing, trickling, swirling and swaying — in their playing to add more texture. Daily Record photos by Rachel Willis

Centro student Isabella McCormack gets tips on how to play the theme song from "Harry Potter" from "From the Top" featured musicians Haeun Moon, 17 of Woodway, and Antonio Ajero, 14 of Nacogdoches.
