Wimberley Civic Club home tour auction event underway

Sunday, April 4, 2021

Another Home Tour event from the Wimberley Civic Club began April 1. The traditional kickoff party has been replaced this year with an online auction featuring more than 30 experientially-focused items. Designed to help bidders return to the world of friends, fun, and purpose following the isolation of Covid, it can be accessed by going to wimberleyccc.org. Ticket sales, a teaser video of the tour, and the auction all go live April 1.

“We created our auction with the past year in mind,” says Melinda Miller, Home Tour chairperson. “We have experiential gifts such the Elephant Experience at The Preserve near Fredericksburg, a four-hour sightseeing tour on Lake Austin, vase design at Wimberley Glassworks, and glamping in safaritents at Spoon Mountain, one of the homes featured in the tour. Happy hour hosting packages, elegant luncheons for ten, and a dinner prepared in home by Miss Red’s pros are some of the packages we’ve gathered to pave the way to socializing again.”

B&B getaways to Gruene, ziplining in Wimberley, and an Exotic Resort Zoo experience in Johnson City are up for bid, as well as stays at the Lonesome Dove Lodge and the Flora & Fauna Hotel. Dining at the exceptional Blair House, Longleaf Craft Kitchen + Bar, Driftwood Estate Bistro and Winery, and the Leaning Pear are also featured.

“A home décor update with Kathy Lockhart, an expert designer, is an effortless way to transform the rooms you’ve been cooped up in all year,” says Miller. “On top of that, we’re thrilled to have a Drone Cinematography package with Tyler Knowles, who photographed and produced the Home Tour teaser video on our website.”

A beauty basket for teens from Skintique Apothecary and Spa, treatments from The Med Spa and an “Indulge Me” bundle from Three Little Birds provide incentives to see old friends and meet new ones.

Suzanne Davis and Lisa Dodson, co-organizers of the tour and auction, curated baskets of fine books, wine and goodies from Andreucci Winery in Fredericksburg and Dripping Springs chocolate, and a Living Well Package with a certificate to Star Antique in Wimberley. Other specialty items include a Yeti cooler, a Navajo Horsehair Vessel from Hill Country Collectibles, and a memory t-shirt quilt by Linda Snow.

The auction goes live April 1 and bidding ends at 8 pm April 15. Auction winners will be notified by email and pickup and delivery arrangements will be finalized afterwards. A major fundraiser, the Home Tour and its auction help raise money for 25 area nonprofits, charities, and scholarships.
