Students, teachers and staff at Hernandez Elementary School celebrate a literary milestone recently as it was announced that the 'Hernandez Heroes' showed that reading is their superpower. The school won this year's San Marcos Public Library Summer Reading Challenge, a competitive moment among the area campuses. The award is given to the SMCISD elementary with the most students who turned in reading logs during SMPL's summer reading challenge. Ashley Schimelman, SMPL Children's Librarian, presented these Heroes with the winning trophy on Friday, Sept. 8.
