Double fatality closes I-35

Two drivers were pronounced dead early Friday in San Marcos in connection to a tragic combination of actions that started when a tire blew out on a truck carrying a load of gravel that was in the northbound lane of Interstate- 35 near the McCarty Lane interchange.

Texas to fund community colleges based on reported student academic outcomes

Texas community college advocates are cheering after the Senate unanimously approved a House bill Friday to fund the state’s community colleges based on how many of their students graduate with a degree or certificate or transfer to a four-year university. Currently, schools are largely funded based on the number of hours students spend in a classroom.

There were bubble machines and a bright blue sky that harkened to the beginning of summer, as the first Music on the Square for 2023 brought people to the Hays County Historic Courthouse lawn Friday with chairs and blankets, ready to hear music and celebrate the change in seasons.
