The Kyle Police Department arrested and charged two people with various drug charges after fentanyl and other narcotics were found in a residence in the presence of two young children, police said.

DEAR ABBY: I am a 30-something single gay man. My parents are older and have a strained marriage. They no longer have a relationship but stay together. A Texas state district judge on Wednesday sentenced Daniel Perry to 25 years in prison for shooting to death a man protesting police brutality. Gov. Greg Abbott has pledged to pardon the former U.S. Army sergeant for the crime.
Federal funds directly support individuals and businesses across Texas. In 2022, nearly $277.6 billion was spent in the state by various agencies. That’s down from $349.7 billion in 2021 and $321.0 billion in 2020, when assorted COVID-19 stimulus packages were in place. The last year of pre-pandemic data indicates $206.8 billion, with 2018 only slightly lower. Things are slowly getting back to more typical patterns. (Note that these totals are for fiscal years, from October 1 through September 30.)

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce and the local community have reason to celebrate as all four school bond proposals were passed in the recent election.
Mayor Jane Hughson proclaimed May 19 as San Marcos Artists’ Retention and Training Orchestra Day. According to its website, the SMART Orchestra is dedicated to the appreciation and understanding of orchestral music in the city and surrounding communities. “The Smart Orchestra’s annual benefit VIP social is being held on Friday, May 19 at the Pauline Espinosa Community Hall,” Hughson said. Recently, a group of docents and officials in training for the upcoming Heritage Tour met for a tea and to continue their readiness for the 46th 'Tour of Homes,' which this year is 'Town & Gown: The Art and Architecture of Texas State University.' It is Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 through May 19, and $30 after that. Funds will be used for Heritage preservation projects.
