A familiar sight of summer can now be seen on the San Marcos River — yellow Lions Club tubes.
Efforts by the Hays County Crime Stoppers and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office Repeat Offender Program have seen an increase in fugitive apprehensions recently. Since the beginning of the year, eight fugitives from the Hays County Crime Stoppers Most Wanted list have been arrested.
The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality approved the air quality permit requested by Far South Mining to establish a rock quarry at Needmore Ranch. Almost as soon as the permit was approved, a notice was filed by the Trinity Edwards Springs Protection Agency with an intent to sue the mining company in an attempt to stop the development of a quarry.

Anna Gore, MSN, RN at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-San Marcos, was selected as both a South Texas Nurse Imagemaker and the recipient of the Ruth Stewart Award during the 15th Annual South Texas Nurses Imagemaker Celebration presented by the District 8 Texas Nurses Association (TNA).
In the fall of 2021, the Hays CISD Special Education Department developed a plan to incorporate the Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools (UCS) program within the district.
