Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce recognizes local businesses during Star Awards

The Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce held its Star Awards event, recognizing local achievement, at Dreamland on May 13. The event, which usually takes place every February, almost didn’t happen. In fact, it was canceled until members of the Chamber Board rallied together to put on the event for the community.

San Marcos Academy holds kindergarten graduation ceremony

With their purple robes, mortar boards and tassels in place, the 22 students eagerly lined up for their May 5 graduation at San Marcos Academy. But this was not the Class of 2021 preparing to walk the stage. Instead, it was the Class of 2033, who were taking part in the first Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony on the Academy’s Ranch Road 12 campus.

San Marcos Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution award local students with National Defense medals

The San Marcos Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded local students with National Defense medals, offering scholarships to the Gold Medal winners. These medals are presented to cadets who, in the judgment of their military instructors, have performed their military studies in an outstanding manner. The winners were as follows:

Susan Hanson to share SM River underwater photos with SMTX Rotary

Susan Hanson is a familiar sight on and under the San Marcos River. She regularly dons her wetsuit to photograph river fish, plants, turtles and whatever else comes her way. Her images have won many photo awards. She shares some of them on Wednesday, May 19 at noon with the Rotary Club of San Marcos. The virtual meeting takes place on Zoom and visitors are welcome.
