United Campus Ministry at Texas State delivers N95 masks to local nonprofits

Local nonprofits have been fighting the risks of the pandemic to continue to provide critical social services to San Marcos residents.

Heritage Association donates $5,000 to San Marcos Public Library

The City of San Marcos Public Library recently received a $5,000 donation from the Heritage Association of San Marcos to benefit the new library’s San Marcos and Hays County Local History Archives.

SMDR Year in Review: The Pandemic Year

From mask-wearing to social distancing, COVID-19 has changed the daily lives of everyone. Hays County reported its first presumptive coronavirus case on March 14. Since then, 125 county residents have died from the virus as of Tuesday, while there have been over 10,000 cases reported to the Hays County Local Health Department.

SMDR Year in Review: Final months of 2020 feature elections, COVID increase

Hays County and San Marcos saw a break in COVID-19 in October, but cases began to surge in November and December. The final three months of the year brought a return to in-person learning at San Marcos Consolidated ISD, the general election and a runoff election.
