Majestic Monarchs in Town

The journey south is beginning as these Monarch butterflies enjoy a brief layover in San Marcos this past Sunday. The butterflies are on a 2,500-mile trek from Canada, where they breed, to the forests of central Mexico, where they will hibernate. In Central Texas, these Monarchs wallow in the copious blooms of a purple sage hedge near Christus Hospital on Wonder World Drive. Daily Record photos by Celeste Cook

Texas School Safety Center receives grant to help public schools implement behavioral threat assessment programs

The Texas School Safety Center at Texas State University has been awarded a grant from the Department of Justice’s STOP School Violence Prevention Program in support of school behavioral threat assessment programs to provide a proactive, evidence-based approach for identifying individuals who may pose a threat and for providing interventions before a violent incident occurs.

KZSM–'Musica con Ganas' is now on Sunday evenings

Your 'True Community Radio' station continues to celebrate the diversity and creativity of our city and our region with a new show in Spanish. “Musica con Ganas,” hosted by KZSM veteran “El Tío,” airs Sundays 8-9 p.m., immediately after the bilingual broadcast “Raices.” The show addresses a need for more Spanish-language programming here in our community where 40% of the population identifies as Hispanic.
