The San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (SMUUF) took up a collection at their Sunday Worship Service to donate to the Hays County Child Protective Board (HCCPB).

"Each month our church takes up a Donate-the-Plate collection for a local nonprofit organization that aligns with our religious values," SMUUF Social Justice Chair Jeannie Lewis said. "The Child Protective Board helps take care of some of our most vulnerable residents – abused and neglected children. One of our missions is to try to serve our marginalized residents."

Mary Cauble, HCCPB treasurer, explained at the worship service that the state does not provide for all the needs of the children in protective care and the Child Protective Board fills in the gaps for these children who may come into custody with only the clothes on their back.

The SMUUF Sewing Guild also donated 12 child-sized homemade quilts to the Child Protective Board.
