Literacy plays ‘dress-up’ at Mendez Elementary

Pete the Cat (Natalie Oliver) is escorted through the cafeteria by Teacher Adam Voglewede as students assemble to start the parade during the recent Reading Mania event at Mendez Elementary. Students and teachers got the opportunity to dress as their favorite characters and receive visits from guest readers from the community to share their love of reading.

Each grade decorated their hallway in keeping with a different book, such as “James and the Giant Peach” shown here, during Reading Mania.
