The San Marcos Artists’ Retention and Training (SMART) Orchestra is hosting their third concert of Season IX “Songs of the Siren” with a holiday reception fundraiser to follow.

The Christmas concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church, located at 129 E. Hutchinson St., from 3 - 4 p.m. on Dec. 17, with attendance free and open to the public.

Immediately after the concert is a holiday reception at Stonewall Warehouse, 141 E. Hopkins St., with all proceeds directly benefitting the SMART Orchestra in their efforts to provide access to quality symphony music and instruction throughout the Central Texas community.

The SMART Orchestra is dedicated to the enhanced appreciation and understanding of orchestral music and provides an opportunity for developing musicians to perform and learn in a full symphony setting. Additionally, the organization offers a free community concert series and various educational outreach opportunities, as well as instructor and internship opportunities.

The Christmas concert, to the delight of patrons, will feature various holiday classics as well as a few surprise selections. Following the performance, the SMART Orchestra has organized a fundraising opportunity and social event. During the holiday reception, Bunny LeRoque will host Bunny Bingo, with light refreshments provided by Stonewall Warehouse. Attendants will enjoy a variety of sweets and treats from around town, such as donut holes donated by Dixie Cream Artisan Donuts.

Concluding the evening activities, there will be live musical entertainment by the Barebones Orchestra, with a unique and quirky take on what happens when several genres meet. Bring your Christmas concert program for $5 off the ticket price, $15 for adults and $10 for children, at the door.
