San Marcos made history on Saturday in the Hill Country Invitational held in Cedar Park. The team finished second in the tournament, bringing home the school’s first girl’s wrestling team trophy.

The second place finish, 102 team points, was built by a strong team performance. Senior Serenity Villalobos, senior Jessica Kershogen and freshman Gianna Moreno each went undefeated on the day. Villalobos and Kershogen both went 4-0, while Moreno brought home a championship with a 5-0 record (5 pins).

Caitlin Hagerty, Marissa Flores and Kayla Huddleston also contributed with solid performances. Hagerty finished the invitational 3-1 as Flores added three wins of her own to conclude the afternoon in third place. Huddleston rounded point totals out with two wins.

The Hill Country Invitational marks the first time the Lady Rattlers have placed in a tournament.
