Texas State saw 18 members of its 2018 recruiting class sign with the Bobcats during Wednesday’s inaugural early National Signing Day.

In November, head coach Everett Withers said he wasn’t sure how the first December signing day would go, but the results proved beneficial to Texas State.

The Bobcats saw their highest-rated recruit in the class sign, three-star wide receiver Jacoby Hopkins, on Wednesday.

Texas State also had these three-star athletes sign: pro-style quarterback Tyler Vitt (San Antonio/MacArthur High School), outside linebacker Jake Lynch (Richmond/Fort Bend Travis High School), safety Ladarius Anthony (Houston/Cypress Creek), wide receiver TJ Graham (Mansfield/Lake Ridge High School), safety/defensive back Pierce Withers (Austin/Bowie High School), wide receiver Blake Aragon (Stephenville/Stephenville High School) and defensive back Jarron Morris (Orange/West Orange-Stark).

The Bobcats two-star signees are wide receiver Jah’Marae Sheread (Cypress/Cypress Springs High School), offensive lineman Miles Macadory (Sachse/Sachse High School), offensive lineman Jalen Momerelle (Manvel/Manvel High School), offensive lineman Kylar Cooks (Texarkana/Liberty-Eylau High School), safety/defensive back C.J. Johnson (Allen/Allen High School), tight end Jackson Lanam (Corpus Christi/Calallen), defensive end Dotson Schaefer (Fayetteville, Arkansas/Fayetteville High School), tight end Seth Coillouet (Covington, Louisiana/Archbishop Hannan High School), offensive lineman Morgan Moore (Oklahoma City/Midwest City High School) and kicker Chris Kessler (Longview/Longview High School).

The five recruits that didn’t sign on Wednesday were three-star wide receiver August Pitre (Opelousas, Louisiana/Northwest High School), two-star safety Brandon Johnson (Tyler/Tyler Junior College), two-star offensive lineman Peyton Fifield (The Woodlands/The Woodlands High School), two-star defensive tackle Nathalohn Nanai (Killeen/Shoemaker High School) and two-star cornerback Taj Bickham (Allen/Allen High School).

Texas State’s class currently ranks No. 3 in the Sun Belt and No. 91 in the country.

The Bobcats didn’t hold a press conference following Wednesday’s signings, but are expected to hold one after February’s National Signing Day.
