Texas State’s three-game winning streak came to a close on Saturday when the Bobcats visited Little Rock inside the Jack Stephens Center, 63-48.

The shooting prowess of Texas State controlled the opening quarter with junior guard Toshua Leavitt hitting three 3s, giving the Bobcats a first quarter 18-10 lead. But the Trojan defense locked down in the remaining three quarters. Texas State was held to eight points in the second and third quarters by a suffocating Little Rock defense.

“Our girls came into this game fatigued and it showed,” head coach Zenarae Antoine said in a statement. “Give Coach Foley and Little Rock a lot of credit. We will have to look back at the film and make corrections. Fortunately, we have a great opportunity to bounce back next week back at home.”

Texas State only had two players end the night in double-digit scoring. Leavitt continued to produce with a team-high 20 points. Senior guard Taeler Deer contributed 13 points of her own along with two assists. Six of the seven shots Texas State made in the opening quarter were converted off assists leading to a 50 percent shooting percentage early on in the game.

The top two offensive weapons for the Bobcats were not enough to keep pace with a Little Rock attack that was led by Ronjanae DeGray. The junior forward came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points, who connected with her first nine shots and closed the game 10-for-11. Her sister Raeyana DeGray and Keanna Keys rounded out the Trojan offense with 10 points a piece.

Following the loss, the Bobcats fell to fourth place in the Sun Belt with a 4-2 record. Twelve games remain in conference play with the next pair of matches scheduled to tip off inside Strahan Coliseum. Louisiana-Monroe is set to visit San Marcos on Thursday, while Louisiana-Lafayette will be in town on Saturday.

Thursday night’s game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
