Dolores Crittendon of San Marcos, Texas, beloved mother and grandmother passed away in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the age of 80. She was born on April 20, 1937 in Staples, Texas, to James Emerson and Otha Mae (Hardge) Smith.

Dolores was a 1956 graduate of the first integrated class of San Marcos High School. She worked at Community Action for several years, Texas Department of Human Services and the Salvation Army as a social worker. She attended St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. She enjoyed Bingo, shopping, special times spent with her family and was well known for her 7-Up pound cake.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three children, Glenda, Darryl and Denise Crittendon; brother, Gene Smith; sister, Myrtle Perkins; and grandchild, Davian Peterson.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl McWilliams of New Braunfels, and Rita Dobbins (Carl) of Pearland; three grandchildren, Cherné Harris, Jasmine McWilliams and Cienna Dobbins; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Viewing at Pennington Funeral Home, 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. Dolores’ life will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at the First Baptist Church (McCarty Lane) in San Marcos, with Pastor Jack Gause of St. Peter’s UMC, Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
