The Bobcats came up short in their Louisiana road trip over the weekend, losing to both McNeese and LSU.

Texas State fell behind early on Friday, the Cowgirls’ sophomore forward Havana Johnson knocked in a pass that got past the team’s defenders in the eighth minute of the game.

The Bobcats responded nine minutes later. Junior midfielder Jordan Kondikoff sent a pass to sophomore midfielder Renny Moore, who found the back of the net a few touches later to equalize.

McNeese couldn’t be held off, though. Sophomore midfielders Anna Watson and Mariah Ruelas connected for a score after Watson dribbled through the Texas State defense and found Ruelas near the goal. The Bobcats couldn’t recover in time and fell 2-1.

The Tigers proved to be a tougher challenge on Sunday. LSU was equipped with an energetic and prolific offense that put a lot of pressure on Texas State’s back line.

Junior goalkeepers Kathryn Budde and Heather Martin did what they could, combining for 11 saves. However, they weren’t able to keep the Tigers out, giving up a goal each, with both coming from sophomore forward Adrienne Richardson.

Martin’s performance pushed her up to fifth on the Texas State’s career saves list, surpassing Caitlynn Rinehart with 139 stops.

The two losses put the Bobcats at 1–3 on the season. The team will be back on the road on Friday when it takes on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
