Bobcat women picked to win Sun Belt

The Texas State women’s cross country team was picked to win the Sun Belt, the conference announced Wednesday. 

The women’s team received nine first-place votes. Appalachian State was picked to finish second, and received three first-place votes. South Alabama, Arkansas State and Georgia State rounded out the top five. 

Additionally, senior Devina Schneider, redshirt junior Kendra Long and sophomore McKynzie King were selected among the top returners in the conference. 

Schneider and King were both named All-Sun belt first team last year 

On the men’s side, Texas State was picked to finish fourth. UT-Arlington was selected to win the conference with five first-place votes. Appalachian State was picked to finish second with five first-place votes.

South Alabama was projected to finish ahead of the Bobcats in third place. Louisiana was named the fifth place team. 

Redshirt senior Joseph Mead was the lone Bobcat on the men’s side to be named a top returner. 

Texas State’s season begins Friday at the Bear Twilight Invite in Waco with the women’s 4K starting at 7 p.m. and men’s 6K beginning shortly after.
