Pflughaupt receives Sun Belt weekly accolade

In the past week, Texas State has faced some of its toughest opponents of the season, earning a 3-2 win over Rice, and suffering a 3-0 sweep to No. 6 Texas and a 3-1 loss to No. 16 Kentucky.

Amy Pflughaupt shined through it all. The senior outside hitter secured a double-double over the Owls with 18 kills and 15 digs, then kept the efficiency up with 30 combined kills against the Longhorns and Wildcats on a .338 attacking percentage.

The Sun Belt Conference took note and awarded Pflughaupt with the league Offensive Player of the Week honor. It’s the first weekly accolade of the season for Pflughaupt, who earned the same distinction last year on Oct. 9. The reigning Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and 2018 Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team member is up to 101 kills and 48 digs this season.

With Pflughaupt winning the award, Texas State became the first and only team in the conference thus far to collect all four weekly plaudits. Senior middle blocker Madison Daigle and freshman setter Emily DeWalt were recognized on Sept. 3, Daigle as Defensive Player of the Week and DeWalt as Setter and Freshman of the Week.
