Abel Silva Cruz

Abel Silva Cruz of San Marcos, Texas passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at the age of 87. He was born to Prudencio and Francisca (Silva) Cruz on Nov. 19, 1930 in Martindale, Texas.

Mr. Cruz was a loving husband, father, grand-and-great-grandfather. He was devoted to his family and always worked hard to provide for them. He was a faithful member of Cristo La Roca Church in Redwood and with a big heart, he always gave to the church in service as well as to various missionaries and charities.

His memory will always live in our hearts.

His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Maria D. Cruz; son, Guadalupe Cruz of San Marcos; two daughters, Silvia Trevino and husband, Julian, and Pamela Dohi and husband, David both of Corpus Christi; brother, Enrique (Henry) Cruz of San Marcos; five grandchildren, Marissa Chapa (Jason), Jenny Vasquez (Ryan Garcia), Anthony Sandoval (April), Ray Alex Sandoval and Jeremy Trevino; and nine great-grandchildren, Isaac Chapa, Harmony Chapa, Lorin Chapa, A’tieana Chapa, Devin Vasquez, Asia Vasquez, Ally Vasquez, Dylan Vasquez and Ethan Garcia.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, in the Pennington Memorial Chapel. Pastor Rodrigo Rodriguez and Pastor Norma Rodriguez of Cristo La Roca Church will officiate.
