Agapita ‘Ida’ Ascona

Agapita ‘Ida’ Ascona

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

--2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV)

Agapita “Ida” Ascona graciously earned her angel wings and entered Heaven’s gates on Feb. 1, 2018. She was a dedicated wife, beloved mother and cherished grandmother. Her final days were spent with love, joy and family by her side.

Agapita had a passion for cooking and opened Ascona’s Molino in 1977, quickly becoming a staple in the community of San Marcos, TX. For 23 years she enjoyed sharing her famous recipes and creating lifelong memories along the way. Agapita retired and moved to New Braunfels, Texas, where she devoted her life to her family. She was a true woman of God; known to family friends and anyone who was blessed eough to cross her path as a pillar of strength, a heart of servitude, a compassionate soul and a prayer warrior.

Because of her undying faith she is now resting peacefully in her Father’s arms joined by her predeceased parents Sirila and Juan Perez; her siblings Frances Perez, Augustine Perez, Juan Perez Jr. and Julian Perez. Her surviving family members have gained a guardian angel to watch over them as they continue the good fight and race to the finish line. They include her husband of 54 years Enrique Ascona Sr.; children Eva Marie Ascona, Enrique Ascona Jr., E.J. Escona III; grandchildren April Ascona, Analisa Ascona, Enrique Ascona IV; siblings Greg Perez and wife Lala, Antonio Perez and wife Eloisa and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is greatly missed but the King’s Daughter has been called home to enjoy eternal life with the King of Kings.

A church service in honor, celebration and farewell to her life is currently being arranged. She will be cremated according to her wishes and a private burial will be held at the San Marcos City Cemetery.
