Sunday, November 28, 2021

Alison Tudor passed away on November 14, 2021, in San Marcos, Texas. She was born September 27, 1964, in Hampton, Virginia to a close-knit family with rich histories going back to the earliest American settlers. Their love for adventure introduced her to a life without boundaries and she was determined to explore all that life had to offer.

While earning her Anthropology Degree at Southwest Texas State University, Alison fell in love with the beauty and history of San Marcos and surrounding communities. Her natural curiosity, endless enthusiasm and appreciation for life itself would form the basis for her life experiences. Alison had a passion for nature and experienced it like no other. She was a Master Naturalist and knew the names of every native plant, insect, and bird and could even recite their songs. She enjoyed gardening and landscaping her home, constantly seeking new ways to bring nature’s beauty into her world. She developed an interest in quilting, learning from her mother and sister. Never content to be like everyone else, she then excelled as a quilt designer, winning many features in various quilting magazines. Her most enduring endeavor was the knowledge she acquired of her home, San Marcos. For the past thirty-five years, Alison dedicated untold hours researching, cataloging, and preserving the region’s historical records, photographs, and resources for future generations. Her most notable work is the ongoing Facebook page “Historic Photographs of San Marcos & Hays Co.” which chronicles the life experiences of those who shaped San Marcos and Hays County throughout the years. Alison left her impression on everyone she met. Her generous heart and zest for knowledge will be dearly missed. Alison is survived by her wife, Lenora Newsom; Mother, Charlene Tudor; Sisters – Carrie Tudor and Barbara Tudor Hanni with husband Dave; Aunts – Beryl Redfield, Myrene O’Connor and husband Jim; Niece and Nephews – Megan Eiberger and husband Niko and Sean and Patrick Hanni, along with a vibrant and engaged extended network of family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the San Marcos Cemetery Chapel at 11 a.m. on December 4, 2021.
