Angelita Romero Rodriguez

October 6, 1924 - November 18, 2019
Thursday, November 21, 2019

On October 6, 1924, a candle was lit for Angelita Romero Rodriguez, “Angie”.  It burned brightly for 95 years, and then it began to dim and flicker as it expired on November 18, 2019, as a flight of angels sang her to her rest.  She slipped quietly into the arms of our Heavenly Father surrounded by her family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Emilio and Apolonia Romero, her loving husband of 40 years Guillermo Rodriguez, daughter Maria Eva Lesa, son Gilberto Rodriguez, sister Caroline Rivas, and brother John G. Romero.

Survivors include her five daughters, Frances Perez (John Hidrogo), Carolina Munoz (Ignacio), Angelita Wright (Lawrence), Barbara Saucedo (David), and Bonnie Pecina (deceased, Robert), her son Francisco Lesa III, thirteen grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Angelita worked for the San Marcos Independent School District for 21 years at Bonham and Bowie Elementary Schools.  Her devotion was to have her school ready and spotless for her children.   She loved socializing with friends, good food, baking cakes for the family, and crocheting.  She also enjoyed going to the beauty shop, playing bingo, gardening and listening to Little Joe and Fats Domino.

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, from 5-7 p.m.  Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Marcos, with Father Jairo Lopez officiating.  Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.  Pallbearers will be Joey Ingenloff, George Munoz, Francisco Lesa, III, Gilbert Perez, Albert Pecina and John Hidrogo.

The family gives their warmest and greatest gratitude to everyone who provided assistance with Angie’s care in the recent years.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Angulo, Dr. Mayhua, the nurses and staff at Cypress Care and Rehabilitation Center, Activity Director Kerry Hartwich, and Heart to Heart Hospice.

Until we meet again, we shall carry Angelita in our hearts.
