Benita Mendez Tobias

Benita Mendez Tobias, our beloved Mom, a longtime resident of San Marcos, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday the 9th of April, 2020, at the age of 96. She was born in Lockhart, TX on March 21, 1924.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Marciano Mendez and Mrs. Juna Mendez; her brothers, Rudy Mendez, Fred Mendez, Jesse Mendez, Natividad Mendez and Alfredo Mendez; sisters, Rosa Lombardo, Audrora Caudillo and Celia Gil. She was a housewife all her life and took care of her grandchildren and babysat for many other children that she treated as her own grandchildren. She was loved by all that knew her and special thanks to Advent Health Nursing Center and Hospice for always being there for our mother and taking such good care of her.

Benita is survived by her five children, Nate Tobias (Molly), Rosalio Tobias (Sulema), Pete Tobias, Johnny Tobias (Elvia), and Ester Esquivel (Louis); grandchildren, Paul Samilpa, David Tobias, Carol Pinales, Liz Gallien, John Andrew Tobias and Jeremy Esquivel; 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grand children and several other loving family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 13, 2020 at San Miguel Uhland Cemetery, 80 Old Spanish Trail, Uhland, TX 78625.
