Betty Jane Banks of San Marcos, TX passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the age of 79. She was born in Kansas City, KS on May 17, 1939.
She grew up in Pittsburgh, KS where she graduated from College High School in 1957. Betty met Chester in Lubbock, TX, where they were married in 1972.
She worked in the sales and marketing industry for 12 years and has lived in San Marcos since 1977. She attended the First Baptist Church of San Marcos and was a member of many clubs and organizations, including Beta’s, San Marcos Women’s Center, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, the City Arts Commission, Quail Creek Country Club, Texas State Bobcat Club, Texas State Friends of Fine Arts, Texas State Gourmet Club, the Heritage Assoc., Texas State Jr. Miss, Texas State Women’s Basketball Fastbreak Club, Volley Ball Gold Diggers, and the San Marcos Women of the Year Hall of Fame.
Her parents, Raymond Ardel and Maxine Naomi (Henery) McGlothlin, son, Tony R. Richardson and daughter, Marion S. Halperin preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Chester B. Banks; one son, Paul Banks of Laguna Hills, CA; daughterin-law, Jennifer Richardson of Atlanta, GA; son-in-law, Russell Halperin of Austin, TX; and two grandchildren, Ryan B. Richardson and Taylor M. Richardson both of Atlanta, GA.
A burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at the San Marcos City Cemetery. A Celebration of Betty’s life will follow at 2: p.m., at the First Baptist Church of San Marcos, with Rev. Chad Chaddick officiating.
Memorial gifts in Betty’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
