Bobby Joe “B.J.” Roberts

Bobby Joe “B.J.” Roberts of Garwood, Texas, passed away on Dec. 17, 2018, at the age of 82. He was born to Robert Browning and Edra (Jenkins) Roberts in Bangs, Texas on Nov. 1, 1936.

B.J.  graduated from Brownwood High School in 1955. He married Virginia Stafford on June 3, 1958, in Bellville, Texas, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. For many years he worked with the Kairos Prison Ministry in South Central Texas. An avid outdoorsman, B.J. enjoyed farming, ranching, camping with Trinity Travelers and Go Slows. He was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Speed of Seguin; and two grandchildren, who fondly called him “Gramps,” Brittany Speed Foster and husband, Marcus and Garrett Speed.

B.J.’s life will be celebrated at Staples Cemetery in Staples, Texas, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 with Mr. Kenny Dubois officiating.
