Celia Ann Yeary
Celia Ann Yeary, a long-time resident of San Marcos, passed away on July 7, 2018 at the age of 77. She was born in Salesville, TX on Aug. 25, 1940 to Clarence and Modene Purefoy Davis.
Celia spent her early childhood years traveling around West Texas as the family followed her Daddy’s work. They ultimately settled in Levelland, Texas, where she graduated high school. She married a tall handsome man, James Yeary, in 1958. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this December. As a young housewife with two small children, she decided to attend college. She went on to earn a BS in Biology as well as a Master’s degree in education.
Celia taught biology for many years at the San Marcos Academy; she loved her kids there and also formed many long-lasting friendships among the faculty and staff. After her retirement, she tried writing on a whim, and ultimately published close to 30 Western romance novels.
Celia is survived by her husband Jim; her daughter, Audrey Yurcheshen and husband Rick; her son, Barton Yeary and wife Deborah; grandchildren Aaron, Daniel and Nathan Yeary; sisters Francis Staggs and Nancy Fletcher, along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Pennington Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from noon to 1 p.m. A private burial will be held at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Elan at Westpointe in New Braunfels, and Celia’s and Jim’s church family at the 1st Presbyterian Church of San Marcos.
