Chelsea Lynnell Cheatham was born on February 23, 1987, in San Marcos, Texas, to Lionel and Cornelia Cheatham. She was the youngest of three daughters.

She received Christ at an early age and was a member of Wesley Chapel of African Methodist Episcopal Church. At the age of four, she participated in the Angel choir, YPD (Young People’s Dept.) and other activities within the Church. 

As a youth, Chelsea’s hobbies included playing basketball, volleyball and AAU Junior Olympics, and Track and Field. She also loved reading and writing and loved to enter spelling bees in which she would often win first place. Furthermore, Chelsea enjoyed participating in plays at school.

In high school, Chelsea was a member of the National Honor Society and various school organizations. She was a member of the varsity track team from Freshman to Senior year of high school. Chelsea excelled in Track and Field and was one of the top sprinters in the state of Texas. She was also nationally ranked in the 100 and 200 meters. Because of her talents, she was awarded a full scholarship to Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. 

On February 12, 2006, Chelsea gave birth to her one and only child, Cyenna Cheatham-Deleon. Further, Chelsea considered the birth of Cyenna to be the biggest blessing in her life.

Shortly before her death, she was employed at Dayton Services as an Administrative Assistant. She was highly proficient in working with computers and the newest technology.

She had many friends and was always willing to help others in need. She never was one to judge or look down on others, and always hoped that people would look at her in the same fashion. 

Chelsea was called home by the Lord at the young age of 32, and was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ruby Davis and James Jones, and paternal grandmother, Marguerite C. Hill, and great-grandmother Ada Giles. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Cyenna Cheatham-Deleon, her parents, Lionel and Cornelia Cheatham, two sisters, Dynisha Toussaint (Keenan) of San Antonio, Tanya Cheatham-Below (Steven) of Houston, three aunts, Linda Hollis of Lockhart, Audrey Malcolm (Owen) of Houston, Karen Jackson of San Marcos, and one uncle, James Jones, of Luling and numerous cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at First Baptist Church at 420 South Mitchell Street in San Marcos, Texas, Saturday, June 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gay Thomas officiating. Interment to follow at the San Marcos-Blanco cemetery in San Marcos, Texas.
