Doris Ann Gash Rich, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend peacefully passed away on Oct. 31, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer

Born Oct. 6, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jesse and Ella May Gash. Her family eventually moved to Texas.

After marrying, having four children Scott, Kathryn, Brad and Suzi they moved to San Antonio, Texas.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; and sister Gloria Bodoni. She is survived by her; sister Glenda Ramsey; Children Scott Rich, Kathryn Bonner and husband Bruce, Brad Rich and wife Lisa, Suzi Ziegenbein and husband Thom; Grandchildren: Tabitha Zgabay and husband Gerald, Kellie Ann Kaiser and husband Chase, Kayleigh Ziegenbein and Zach Ziegenbein; Great Grandchildren: Brody and Brynn Kaiser, Zaden and Zenli Kate Zgabay.

Doris graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1957.

She married Bill Rich on June 27,1959 and they were married for 19 years and they remained friends until the end.

Doris had a zest for life and love for God. She walked to the beat of her own jazzy drum, wearing fabulous hats and sparkles with a style that is only Doris! She adored her her constant companion Joy, her adorable little maltese dog.

She sang with The Mission Belles and in the choir of churches she attended. Doris was a writer, artist and expert seamstress sewing beautiful clothing for her entire family. Utilizing her love for color and design she had the most perfect career as a licensed Interior Designer.

She has been active in the Unity Church for many years and also attended Unity School. Doris served in various ministries in the Unity Church such as a Prayer Chaplain, Greeter, Song Leader and Decorating.

She also worked at Unity Headquarters in Missouri within Silent Unity where she would pray for those who called needing prayer. Some of her sacred writings were also published in Unity Magazine as well as in the Daily Word.

We invite all of her family and friends to come to her Celebration of Life dressed in colorful attire, donning fun hats or fanciful scarves as we remember her. Her celebration will be held at Unity Church of San Marcos, 16870 N State Hwy 123, San Marcos, TX 78666 at 2 p.m. on Friday Nov. 9, 2018. Immediately following the service, all are invited to join the family for a light reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Unity Church of San Marcos.
